Strap-Style Drum Lifter

Description

A forklift-mounted drum handler that grips a standard steel or poly drum under the top chime with a cam-action jaw, rated eight hundred pounds. It slides onto the fork and is secured with a chain around the carriage, which is the part people skip and should not: without the chain the unit can rotate off the fork tip as the drum swings. The cam tightens under load, so the grip increases as the drum gets heavier rather than relying on spring pressure. Gravity releases it when the drum is set down and the jaw goes slack. Works on the chime, which means it works on a steel drum and on a poly drum with a moulded chime, but not on a fibre drum and not on a drum whose chime is dented or corroded — inspect before lifting. One drum at a time, never over a person, and never as a way to move a drum that is already leaking.
