Absorbent Floor Sweep

Description

A forty pound bag of calcined clay floor sweep for oil, coolant and hydraulic fluid on concrete. Spread it over the spill, let it sit rather than working it immediately, then sweep it up — the waiting is the part that gets skipped and the part that does the work, because the clay has to wick the fluid up out of the surface pores. Calcined means fired, which makes it far less dusty than raw clay and stops it turning to paste underfoot. It is an absorbent, not a degreaser: it lifts the bulk of a spill so the floor is no longer slippery and so the residue can be cleaned properly with the degreaser afterwards. Used absorbent that has taken up oil is very often a regulated waste and cannot simply go in the general trash — check what applies to your site before the first spill rather than during it. Keep a bag at the compressor and another wherever a forklift is parked.
