Pallet Corner Board

Description

Fifty laminated kraft angle boards, two inches on each leg, forty-eight inches long, an eighth of an inch thick. They do two separate jobs and most benches only know about one. The obvious one is protecting the vertical edges of a load from strapping and film, which would otherwise cut into the top carton's corner. The less obvious one is load distribution: a corner board transfers stacking weight down the outside of the pallet as a column, so the cartons in the middle of the stack carry less and crush less. On a tall pallet of light cartons that second effect is worth more than the first. Set them under the film, one per corner, running the full height of the load rather than stopping short at the top layer. Cut to length with a utility knife. They are kraft, so they recycle with the cartons, and they are unaffected by the cold that makes plastic protectors brittle.
