Floor Pad Case

Description

Five twenty-inch pads per case, graded by aggression against the industry colour convention. White polishes a finished floor at high speed and removes almost nothing. Red buffs and cleans lightly, the daily pad for a maintained floor. Blue scrubs and will take the top of a finish off in preparation for a recoat. Black strips finish entirely down to the substrate. The convention is worth respecting exactly because the pads look similar on a shelf and the consequences are not: running a black pad where a blue was intended costs a full recoat of the area, in labour and in material and in the floor being out of service overnight. Match the pad to the machine speed too — a polishing pad on a low-speed swing machine does very little, and a stripping pad on a high-speed burnisher will burn the floor. Flip pads at the halfway point and rinse them before they dry hard.
